Library Staff

While Susan grew up in Minnesota, she has called Kirksville her home for over 22 years.  Susan has always loved reading. She has early memories of visiting the public library to listen to story time and do research for school projects.  She holds a master's degree in Literature from Michigan State University and a bachelor's degree in English from St. Olaf College. Susan and her husband  have two sons and enjoy traveling as a family, especially on trips that allow them to run and hike together. Susan is passionate about supporting the library's mission to encourage reading and lifelong learning by providing resources and opportunities to the residents of Adair County.

Sonja was born and raised in Kirksville where she found her husband and together had two beautiful children and three wonderful grandchildren. Sonja's love of books led her to take a part-time position as a circulation clerk at the Adair County Public Library. Starting as a temporary position, Sonja worked her way up to become a full-time Cataloger. Having been a staff member for 26 years, Sonja says her favorite part of the job is picking out new books and putting them into the hands of readers that will love them.
